Get the Look: Rihanna’s Brit Awards Heavy Liner and Nude Lip by Danielle

Not every makeup look needs to be super complicated. There’s a lot you can do with very little. Case in point, the heavy liner and nude lip that crooner Rihanna wore to accentuate her bright Christian Dior dress at the Brit Awards the other night.

After prepping the face (cleanse, tone, moisturize, foundation), get the eyes ready by applying an eyeshadow base like MAC Paint or Paint Pot in a color similar to your skin tone. Then using a blending brush like MAC #224, apply a slightly shimmery eyeshadow about 2 shades darker than your skin tone on the lid and into the crease. Apply a sheer gold eyeshadow (like MAC All That Glitters Eyeshadow) to the brow bone area (you can lightly dot the area with your pinky and blend. If you’re pressed for time or just want to do the liner, you can skip this part.

Then take a black waterproof eye pencil (like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Zero) and apply it to both the top and bottom waterlines. Go over the line several times until desired thickness then smudge either with a smudging brush (like MAC #214) or the edge of a makeup wedge. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara.

For the cheeks, first apply a bronzer (try Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Brown Bronze for light to medium skin tones and Ebony Bronze for caramel to darker skin tones). Use a thick fan brush like Crown Brush C143 Deluxe Fan Brush to apply the bronzer in a controlled manner. Then apply a rosy blush like NARS Blush in Dolce Vita on top of the bronzer with an angled blush brush like MAC #168. Rosy blushes are typically universally flattering. Dolce Vita will look great on all shades of brown.

Then apply a shimmering nude lip gloss like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Gloss (Cocoa Sugar looks great on darker skin tones, Golden Nectar looks great on caramel skin, while Rose Gold looks great on lighter skin tones). See Nude Lipstick for Skin of Color for more nude shades.

Dwayne Wade X HUBLOT – New Brand Ambassdor

Ahead of the 2011 NBA All-Star Game this weekend, luxury watch maker HUBLOT tapped basketball player Dwayne Wade to become its newest brand ambassador. Joining the likes of movie star Jet Li, soccer great Diego Maradona, sking champion Bode Miller and late F1 racer Ayrton Senna, Wade was delighted at the news and said “I am honored to join the esteemed list of Hublot ambassadors, an international collection of the best in sports…” In addition, the partnership highlights Wade’s works beyond the basketball courts, with contributions to his Wade’s World Foundation and other charitable organizations. Today’s announcement also unveiled the new marketing campaign with Wade and HUBLOT’s signature King Power timepiece in 18K gold. Fresh Celeb: Wonder Girls – Adidas Originals By Originals Jeremy Scott

Korean Pop Sensations Wonder Girls are making their way stateside this year with appearances atY-3, Anna Sui, and now the Jeremy Scott runway show for the designer’s Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. Dressed top to bottom with adidas Originals by Originals Jeremy Scott, mixed with a good dose of Y-3 and adidas Originals. While the girls queued up to their assigned seats, editors from Teen Vogue briefly mentioned the quintet’s appearance on an upcoming issue as a way to introduce them to the American public.

Supra been a company that follows no conventional method, even when it names its product. Rather than a sequence in numerical order, it decided to billed the upcoming Skytop II Kamikaze Edition as “Kamikaze’s Revenge” instead. In reference to the original Skytop Kamikaze, issued in 2008, the follow-up applied the same full grain leather in red, black suede accents, and faux zebra motifs to the newer Skytop II form. As our comrades at Sneaker News mentioned, the 2008 original was also an update of another collaboration with Brooklyn Projects, thus exemplify the cyclical nature of revenges.
